Outwit, Outlast And Outplay: The Survivor Section
Survivor started in the year 2000 and jump started to reality TV craze.
Hosted by Jeff Probst, the series’ premise is that several people are taken to a tropical setting and split into two groups called “tribes”. The tribes compete against each other in contests for prizes and for immunity, which keeps a tribe from going to tribal council. At tribal council, a contestant is voted off by other tribe members each week. It can because they don’t help around camp, are weak in challenges, or because no one like them. Likewise, there is sometimes internal conflict among the tribes themselves thanks to domestic spats or someone manipulating the game to their advantage.
Later, after several contestants have been eliminated, the two tribes merge into one and play for individual immunity instead of tribal immunity. Contestants are still voted off until near the end of the season, where the last two or three people left. On the season finale, several eliminated contestants will be made into a jury and they will vote for who they want to win.
Series is very popular thanks to the diversity of the contestants, the eventful challenges, and the ever intriguing tribal councils. It is one of the longest running and most popular of reality shows, and with good reason.
